Council tables planning, zoning commission

Further conversation on the subject of appointing people to the Planning and Zoning Commission brought up how diffi- cult it was to get people to volunteer for this job plus meeting the qualifications. The council will be seeking volunteers to serve on this commission to help better their community After all the discussion was completed, the motion was tabled to consider Laci Harbin (6), Harry Juarez (6), Katie Vitale (4), Keith Schram (4), Dawn Seward (2), Christi Harbin (2), to the Planning and Zoning Commission for the terms listed.

Fire Truck to be displayed at Lucas Oil Stadium

The Ashland Fire Protection District board made the decision to purchase a brush fire truck. However, before the district takes possession of it, the manufacturer will display the truck at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, home of the Indianapolis Colts.

A-C Central School Board will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 20 at the Board Conference Room, Unit Office, 501 W. Buchanan Street, Ashland.

Shaking my tail feathers

Even though it’s Monday and you won’t read this until Saturday or later, the heat for this week will be excruciating. Heat indexes for Tuesday (July 22-24) through Thursday is predicted to be 105-115 degrees! We will all melt! Even with air-conditioning, that’s HOT! That kind of humid heat is dangerous and unhealthy! Even for the critters that live in it, birds, frogs, bees, butterflies, squirrels, rabbits and the rest, that’s too hot for them.
