To the Editor, Workplace violence is an unfortunate and often overlooked reality in healthcare — even in small, tight-knit rural communities like ours. At Jacksonville Memorial Hospital, we’re proud to care for our neighbors, but we also recognize that healthcare workers face increasing risks on the job, from verbal threats to physical harm.

ISP conducting death investigation

On March 24, Beardstown Police Department, Cass County Sheriff’s Department, Beardstown Ambulance and Beardstown Fire Department responded to 1200 block of State Street to a call about an unresponsive mail. Junior Ngoyi Kalonji, 37, was pronounced dead and the scene was secured.
