Arenzville to hire new water superintendent

The Village of Arenzville formally accepted the resignation of Water Superintendent Jason Beck at the board meeting held on March 3. Beck, who served in this position for three-years, has been busy completing several projects for the village over the past month.

Dawson Takes Sixth at IESA State Wrestling

Beardstown Seventh Grader Jude Dawson, in his second straight trip to the IESA State Wrestling Championships, brought home the Sixth Place Medal in the 85-pound division, going 3-3 on the weekend. Eighth grade teammate Pedro Mendoza, in his first year of wrestling, went 1-2 in the 275-pound division, failing to medal, but capping a great season, nonetheless.

Daniel Rojas Puente, 27, Beardstown, was issued a ticket on february 27, for speeding 47-mph in a 35-mph speed zone.

Globe Life presents at Cass County Board meeting

At the March 10 Cass Couty Board meeting, council members heard from Ryan Lindsey of Globe Life – Liberty National Division about supplemental insurance for county employees. This insurance will not cost the county anything.

Normally, I hear this attached to giving a gift that isn’t the best, but at least you were thinking of someone, so it’s more about the gesture of thought towards a friend or loved one. This past week, there was some controversy surrounding a high school girl’s track meet in the state of Virginia.

Council approves agreement with CDS

In a quick meeting of the Beardstown City Council held Tuesday, March 4, the council voted for Mary Davis as temporary chair in the absence of Mayor Tim Harris. The council approved the disposal of municipally owned personal property, one from the police department and two from the public works department.

Force receives certifiaction

Tanner Force received his Basic Operations Firefighter and Hazardous Materials Operations Certification from the Illinois Ste Fire Marshal. Force completed his training at the Illinois Fire Service Institurte in Sherman.
