Virginia City Council holds special meeting

The Virginia City Council held a special meeting April 30th to swear in the newly-elected City Treasurer, Griffin Giovanninini by City Attorney Erin Wilson Laegeler. The council also confirmed Mayor Steve Clark’s appointments of Chris Behrends, Ward Two Alderman and Megan Werner, Ward Three Alderwoman.

Virginia celebrates CASSCOMM for being named a Smart Rural Community SM Provider

The community of Virginia today announced that CASSCOMM was recently named a Smart Rural CommunitySM provider by NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association. NTCA’s Smart Communities are powered by innovative rural broadband providers that believe that by being connected to fiber broadband we achieve more together.

Troubled bridge over waters

Patience seems to be running thin, tempers are short as long lines to cross the Beardstown bridge seems to bring the worse out of motorists.The worse times are early morning when people are going to work and late afternoon when people are getting off work. Beardstown Council swears in members

At May 6th Beardstown City Council meeting, the sitting council had three items on the agenda to address. The first two items were TIF related.

AADM competes in St. Louis

Dance team members from the AADM Dancettes Team attended their third regional competition with Groove Dance Competition in St. Louis, MO. on Apr. 11th-13th.

A-C Central crash reenactment

As A-C Central High School students came out to the grass beside the high school building, before them were Cass County Sheriff Ohrn and High School Principal Anthony Mansar. Sheriff Devron Ohrn began reading a script of what had occurred between two vehicles while driving home.

Kendy Corvil, 34, Beardstown, was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol at 8:27 a.m. April 20.

Cass-Morgan Farm Bureau Foundation gives $17,000 in Scholarships

Each year the Cass-Morgan Farm Bureau Foundation awards scholarships to student applicants in Cass and Morgan counties who are pursuing a career in agriculture. Funds are raised from member donations, and various fundraisers throughout the year.
