Fire district pursuing grant

Ashland Fire Chief Tyler Latham reported the fire district is pursuing a State Fire Marshall Grant. Latham said at last week’s meeting of the fire district board the grant is $26,000 for small equipment. He said the district might use the money to obtain firefighting monitors. The grant application is due by Dec. 15.

Trivia Night #2 set this Saturday

It’s time for Trivia Night Round 2! The event will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7 at the historic Grand Opera House, 123 State Street, Beardstown. 

The cost is $100 per team and there can be up to ten people per team. There will be nine rounds on various categories.

Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase and you can bring your own adult beverages.

Castro, 27, Aurora, was arrested Sept. 19 on a Schuyler County Warrant for failure to appear in court for Speeding/Seat belt/expired registration. Subject was lodged in jail.Miguel A. Vaga Delgado, 43, Beardstown, was arrested Sept. 21 for no valid driver license, no valid registration, and operating an uninured vehicle.
