LLCC to sponsor two-week trip to Italy – Informational meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 8

Lincoln Land Community College Hospitality and Culinary Arts is planning a two-week trip to Italy May 20-June 2, 2024, which is open to students, employees and the community.An informational meeting on the trip will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, in Bistro Verde, located in the Workforce Careers Center on the LLCC campus, 5250 Shepherd Rd. in Springfield.

It’s Circus time!

Ansar Shrine will present its annual Circus on November 10, 11, 12 at the Bank of Springfield, downtown Springfield.    Show times are Friday, 7 p.m. only; 11 a.m., 3:00 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday; 12:30 p.m.

Illinois art contest invites students to let their imaginations run wild

Wonder, curiosity, and questions are a part of growing up … and they’re the heart of the annual student art contest sponsored by the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum and the Illinois State Board of Education.

Illinois students have until Jan. 5 to submit entries on the theme of “I wonder …” The contest asks children from kindergarten through high school to interpret the theme however they want in two-dimensional art, such as a drawing, painting or collage.
