The Cass County Courthouse will be closed on Monday, December 25 in observance of Christmas Day. ****** A-C Central Community Unit School District No.262 will hold its regular Board of Education meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20 in the Board Conference Room, 501 W. Buchanan Street in Ashland. A Truth-in-Taxation Hearing will be held prior to the regular meeting.

The A-C Central FFA chapter attended the National FFA convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. Students attended leadership sessions, listened to keynote speakers, and toured local agriculture attractions. 2023 Beardstown Christmas Pageant Contestants
A representative of ENGIE North America attended last week’s A-C Central board meeting to offer her company’s services in construction projects. Sharon Uslan, ENGIE’s Central Regional Director, presented on coordinating construction projects to improve efficiency in them. She also said ENGIE’s services allow for prices to be established at the start of projects, minimize the need for change orders, and shorten completion times. Later in the meeting, the board voted to approve an audit and project development services contact with ENGIE at no cost to A-C.
Board President Jimmy Hymes called a special meeting to order with two board members absent, Jared Soer and Joe Englebrecht.
The board went into closed session for the purpose of employee discipline. Once out of closed session, Board Member Amy Sommers proposed not the dismissal of John Duffie, Custodian of Beardstown School District, but a suspension of 45 days, unpaid, and with special conditions upon his return to work. The board vote was unanimous. The special meeting was adjourned.
Arenzville - Christmas in the Village: Nov. 25, 1-4 p.m. - Santa Claus will be at Isaac's Coffee Shop. Hot chocolate bar and cookie decorating will be at Trinity Lutheran Church/School. Christmas activites and caroling will be at the Methodist Church. Snow Globe crafts with St. Peter's Church will be at Village Hall. Vendors will be on site through out the event. A Tree Lighting Ceremony will conclude the event at Burgoo Park.

Illinois electric cooperatives will award 16 scholarships in 2024 to financially assist deserving students in the electric co-op family attending universities, 2-year and 4-year colleges, vocational/tech schools and Illinois community colleges. Each scholarship is valued at $2,000, and all will be awarded through the Thomas H. Moore Illinois Electric Cooperatives (IEC) Memorial Scholarship Program.
