The Supervisor of Assessments Committee will meet at 6:00 p.m. Monday, December 18 at the Cass County Courthouse in Virginia.

The Cass County Courthouse will be closed on Monday, December 25 in observance of Christmas Day.
Monday - BBQ pork chop on bun, baked beans, tossed salad, peaches, milk. Tuesday - Vegetable beef soup, egg salad sandwich, green beans, bread, crackers, cinnamon apples, milk. Wednesday - Meat loaf, beef gravy, baked potato, peas, bread, apricots, milk.

This is the time of the year when many like to drive around to look at Christmas decorations. Many people put a lot of time and money into their work to inspire many of us to get into the Christmas mood.
There are some decorations that may need some explaining such as those at Roger Lauder’s residence on Route 125, west of Beardstown just down from Walmart. The first thing most of us see is the gigantic ship in the front yard. Why a ship? Plus, there are other decorations that may stir some questions. Lauder was kind enough to share his inspirations and why he decorates the way he does.
The mission of the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs (IDVA) is to empower veterans and their families to thrive. The IDVA does this by placing veterans and their families at the center of our efforts to connect them with their earned benefits through long-term health care, education, housing, employment, and other services across the state.

Elves for Elders is a program designed by Community Hope and Recovery Center’s Community Care Program to bring some Christmas cheer to older community members. It is similar to the well-known Angel Tree except that an older person is chosen to receive a Christmas gift.
Lincoln Land Community College Agriculture Club members recently competed at the Illinois Professional Agriculture Student (PAS) fall conference held in Normal. Six members earned top rankings and will advance to the national competition, which will be held at LLCC in March 2024.

“Yesterday, December 7th, 1941 – a date which will live in infamy – the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.
To clarify, on Monday, November 20th, the Virginia School Board voted to allow the Senior Class to utilize class funds to possibly go on a cruise for their senior trip. This trip would not be chaperoned by Virginia School staff nor would the Virginia School District consider this trip a district sponsored Senior Class Trip.
