Morgan County Fair Partners with WW2 Armor for ‘Salute the Troops’ 

In a heartfelt tribute to the brave souls who have served and continue to serve in our armed forces, the Morgan County Fair, in collaboration with WW2 Armor, is proud to announce the “Salute the Troops” event. This special occasion is set to take place on Wednesday, July 10th, starting at 6:00 p.m., and aims to honor our nation’s veterans with a unique and memorable experience.

Dance team competes in Bloomington

Dance team members from the AADM Dancettes Team attended their second regional competition with Positive Vibes in Bloomington on March 15th-17th.  

The studio dance team performed 14 routines choreographed by AADM teachers, Laura Evans, Emery Maliongas, and Ciara Hibbs. The team brought home five platinum and 10 high gold adjudication awards. Thirteen of the routines placed in the top 10 overall placings with all competing routines in their level.

Pet of the Week

Lenny is a female grey and white tabby. She was born on August 25, 2022. She is a sweet girl who loves to play. She is very social and likes to take naps under blankets and in cat trees. This beautiful girl, along with all other animals at Schuyler County Humane Society, (SCHS) will be spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated before adoption. You can meet Lenny and all pets at Schuyler County Humane Society, 17000 County Farm Road in Rushville. Visitor hours are Tuesdays from 4-7 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m.-noon, and Sundays from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. You can also make an appointment by calling (217) 322-2220. A-C Central student receives full ride

An A-C Central senior received a full 4-year scholarship to Eastern Illinois University totalling $120,000.

Lainey Bartels, Chandlerville, received the Pemberton Presidential Scholarship that will cover her room and board plus full tuition for four years. Bartels plans to major in public relations with a minor in pre-law, then attend law school.

Arenzville crash sends two to hospital

Two people were transported to an area hospital following a crash at 9:35 p.m. Friday, March 29 in Arenzville. 

According to Cass County Sheriff’s report, Willard Transbarger, 80, Arenzville, was driving a 2008 Ford F-150 truck that ran a stop sign at at the Arenzville Road and Main Street. The vehicle went through the intersection southbound into a business parking lot. The truck then ran head-on into a dirt embankment and rolled over onto its top. Transbarger and a passenger, Carol Transbarger, 79, also of Arenzville, were transported.

AJ’s in Arenzville  has a new owner

AJ’s Bar & Grill in Arenzville is under new ownership.

Susan Campbell recently purchased the business located at 301 West Frederick Street. Campbell also owns Tyson’s Restaurant in Beardstown.
