May is Mental Health Awareness Month

What is mental health? It is defined as a person’s condition with regard to their psychological and emotional well-being. While this is a lot of information floating around both online and in print format, there continues to be misconceptions and misunderstandings about what it all means.

Virginia School Board held to review votes

Virginia School Board held a special meeting May 7 to review the Canvass of Votes and recognize that Cass County Clerk Shelly Wessel had certified the Cass County Election. The seating of reelected board members of Casey French, Gary Bell, and Marc Giovanini, and new school board member Autumn Foster following their official oath of office was also held.

Cass County CEO Class moving closer to reality

An exciting new opportunity for students in Cass County has taken several steps towards becoming a reality in recent weeks. With the addition of Heather Booth as the Cass County CEO facilitator and student applicants being selected for participation, the Cass County CEO class is on track to launch this coming fall.

WCB sponsors coloring contest

The Cass County Courthouse in Virginia will be closed on Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day.

Area scouts join pilgrimage

Cub Scout Pack 137 from Arenzville joined almost 600 other scouts in the Lincoln Pilgrimage on Sunday, April 28 in Springfield. Around 600 scouts and their supporters trekked from the Lincoln Tomb to the Old State Capitol.

Judie was born in March of 2024. She is a shy girl who enjoys spending time in the catasaurus bed in Room 1.

LLCC to offer free health care class

Lincoln Land Community College is offering Introduction to Health Care Professions (HLT 110) free this summer and fall as part of the Connect 2 Health Care (C2HC) program for those 18-24 years old.
