Cass County Retired Teachers meet

    CCRT met Sept. 26, at the Elks in Beardstown. Following lunch, the September program was presented by Kay Chambers, who is a rehabilitation teacher employed by the Division of Blind Services for the State of Illinois. Kay demonstrated a variety of devices blind and visually impaired persons use to help them with writing, telling time, and identifying money.
    The group met Oct. 27 for lunch. Thirty-four members and guests were present. Carol Dean led the pledge to the flag. Mary Hermetet  prayed for blessing of food. The slate of new officers was presented as follows: President Becky Cox, Vice President Irwin Krumwiede, Secretary Mary Hermetet, Treasurer Randy Reichert. The nominative slate was voted to be the elective slate. Three teachers at Gard School  received grants from IRTA. The local group is 65 members strong. All retired teachers are encouraged to join.
    The next meeting will be April 26, 2016.
