The Triopia Trojan baseball team won in the opening round of the inaugural WIVC Conference Tournament at Future Champions Sports Complex 9-3 over Carrollton.  It was all Triopia in this one as the Trojans got one in the first inning, five in the third, one in the fourth and two in the fifth.  Carrollton got all their runs in the fifth inning, but it was too little too late.  Cordell Walker led the way with 2 hits and 2 RBI and went 6 1/3 innings on the mound with 10 strikeouts to get the win. Sam Cox added three hits and Caden Moore had four RBIs.

The win earned the Trojans another matchup against highly touted Brown County in the semi-finals on Tuesday.  Despite a high scoring start for Triopia, the Hornets would prevail by a 13-8 count.  Triopia jumped out early with four runs in the top of the second, only to see Brown County roar right back with six of their own in the bottom half. Undeterred, the Trojans took the lead right back with four more in the top of the third.  Not too be denied, the Hornets scored four of their own in the bottom half to go back up by two runs.  Triopia would not dent the plate again and two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth for BC would provide the final five run margin.  Evan Bell had a big day at the plate with 2 hits and 4 RBI.

The Trojans would finish off the week with a nice win over a good New Berlin squad five to three thanks to a five run fifth inning.  The Pretzels got single tallies in the third, fifth and seventh. Jacob Walkington led the offense with 2 hits and 2 RBI with Bell adding an RBI. Ty Malcomson went 6 1/3 innings with three strikeouts to earn the win. Triopia’s season record now stands at 17-9.
