Wellenkamp celebrates 99th

    Marjorie Lucille Wellenkamp celebrated her 99th birthday Nov. 4.
    She was born Nov. 4, 1916, in Buckhorn, Brown County, the youngest of six children, to Ross Edwin and Fannie Frances (Boss) Wagner. She married Alvin Wellenkamp on Sept. 12, 1942 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Austin, Texas; he died on Aug. 3, 1984.
    Marjorie and Alvin are the parents of six children; Gary (deceased; Sharon Faye), Roger (Pat), Rodney (Evelyn), Terry (Connie), Bill (Kathy), and Sharon Lynn Wellenkamp. She is “Grandma” to 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
    Marjorie Wellenkamp worked as a nurse’s aide for many years in Beardstown and in 1999 moved to Jacksonville, after having lived in Beardstown for nearly 50 years. She is a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville.
    On Nov. 8, a party was held in her honor, with family and friends, at Knollwood Retirement Village, where she is a resident.
