‘Butch’ Davidsmeier to celebrate 90th birthday

    Eugene “Butch” Davidsmeier of Virginia will celebrate his 90th birthday with an open house on Aug. 2.
    Butch was born in Cass County on Aug. 1, 1925, to Louis and Louise (Jones) Davidsmeier. He married Betty J. Bell on Feb. 11, 1955 and they are the parents of two children: Dan (Jo) Davidsmeier of Petersburg and Janet (Mike) Bentley of Virginia. They have one grandson, Adam Bentley; two step-grandsons, Jared and Jason Woodrum; and two step-great-grandchildren.
    Butch’s career began in 1941 when he began working alongside his uncle, John Dour, at Dour Implement in Virginia. After Mr. Dour’s retirement, Butch, along with Bob Miller, Bob Bell and Woodrow Williams, purchased the John Deere dealership which became known as D-Our Implement Company.
    Butch is a founding member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Virginia and was a volunteer and Asst. Fire Chief for the Virginia Fire Department for many years.
    His family invites his many friends and family to attend the celebration from 1 – 3 on Sunday, Aug. 2 at the Beardstown Elks. No gifts please. Cards may be sent to him at 331 E. Illini St. in Virginia.
