Billie Jean Dawson, 48, Frederick, died Thursday, June 9, 2022 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield surrounded by her family.
She was born March 22, 1974 in Beardstown, the daughter of Richard and Carole Wubker Dawson.
She is survived by two children, Cody (fiancé Ashley Kramer) Dawson of Quincy and Caitlin Chavez-Dawson of Beardstown; her parents, Richard and Carole Dawson of Frederick; three-step grandchildren, Dayven, Gunner, and Eli Cissna; two sisters, Ronda (husband Ted) Thurman of Beardstown and Missy (husband Rob) Burke of Virginia; eight nieces and nephews, Andrew Adkins, Amber (husband Nick) Clark, Ashlee Adkins, Brooke Thurman, Clayton Thurman, Shelby Thurman, Tanner Burke, and Hunter Burke; and 11 great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Ed and Virginia Wubker and Virgil and Blanche Dawson.
She graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1992 and then received her Certified Nursing Assistants certificate from Lincoln Land Community College. She worked for several area nursing homes, Home Health, and Evergreen Place before her health would no longer allow her to work outside of the home. She was a natural caregiver, and an amazing friend to everyone that knew her. In her spare time, she loved reading romance novels and watching IDTV cold case and murder mysteries. Billie’s children and family were her life. Her spirit will live on through all those who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life Gathering was held from 11a.m.-Noon Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Beardstown Elks Lodge, with a meal following the gathering at the Elks Lodge.
Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.
