BHS wins first in OTSD Program

Beardstown High School won first place in the 2014-15 Operation Teen Safe Driving Program and has been invited to participate in Ford Motor Company’s “Driving Skills for Life, Ride & Drive” program on Tuesday, April 28, at the Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport in Springfield.
The day will consist of the students observing professional drivers on four separate courses demonstrating critical driving skills. The BHS OTSD members then will have the opportunity to drive the same challenging courses with the professional driver sitting in the passenger seat to provide tips and assistance. They will be treated to both breakfast and lunch, receive framed photos of themselves, receive a certificate, and the group will be awarded $2,500 for their accomplishments this year in the OTSD program.
Beardstown High School’s OTSD students won first place over numerous schools with second place going to Quincy High School, third place to Fieldcrest High School, fourth place to Farmington High School, and fifth place in the OTSD program competition going to ROWVA High School.
