BHS Band takes first place at Smiles Day

The Beardstown High School Marching Tigers have been off to a successful start to their season. On Saturday, Sept. 19th, the band won the overall grand champion traveling trophy at the Griggsville Apple Festival Parade. The following Friday, Sept. 25th they placed first in the large school division at the Rushville Smiles Day Parade as well as receiving the highest score of any band that day; thus winning the grand champion trophy at this parade as well.
This is the first time in Mr. Steadman’s nine years as band director at Beardstown that a grand champion trophy has been won.  This year’s band contains 46 winds and percussion members and nine flag and banner carriers - the largest group that BHS has seen in a number of years.
