Beardstown physician celebrates retirement

    Dr. S.K. Kanthilal, who is often referred to as ‘Dr. K’ by his many patients and other community members, is retiring after practicing in Beardstown for nearly 37 years.
    Last Wednesday, Sept. 23, friends, patients, family and colleagues gathered at a well-attended reception at the Beardstown Elk’s Lodge and  sponsored by Culbertson Memorial Hospital honoring Dr. Sembu Kanthilal for his years of dedicated service improving healthcare in rural communities.
    The Illinois Rural Health Association (IRHA) presented Dr. Kanthilal with the 2015 Rural Physician of Excellence Award and he also received a special copy of House Resolution 777 introduced by State Representative Norine Hammond, as well as a Senate Congratulatory Certificate from Senator John Sullivan.
