Barbara A. Farrand, 91, of Beardstown, died at 11:13 a.m., Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village.  
    She was born February 28, 1930, in Springfield, to Thomas and Elizabeth (Keefner) Newell.  She married Jack L. Farrand on August 27, 1949 and he preceded her in death on April 20, 1963.  
    Also preceding her in death are one daughter, Christine Graff; two brothers, Thomas and Howard Newell, and one sister, Lois Schackmann.
    Barbara is survived by one son, G. Michael Farrand of Riverton and many nieces and nephews.
    She was a resident of Beardstown since 1994. She had previously resided in Sherman and Riverton.  She was a graduate of Riverton High School.  
    She retired after 17 years of service for the Sangamon County Highway Department and had previously worked at Capital City Paper Co. and Sangamo Electric.
    Memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, April 30, at Staab Funeral Home, Springfield, with the Rev. Jeff Grant officiating. A private burial will be held on Monday, May 3, at Calvary Cemetery.
    Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Hospice.
