Claire, my aide and international volunteer

Claire is the most unforgettable person I ever had the pleasure of meeting. My hands finally were so bad I couldn’t type any more, and on a Thursday evening, seven Illinois State students came to Blair House to operate the Bingo game for the residents who were interested.

The colors of spring

The trees are leafing out and the fruit trees are blooming. We have colors of red, white and pink. It makes for a beautiful scene. I just got to see my daughter and son-in-law who came Sunday and helped mow. Everything looks neat.

The changing face of education

DRIVE-BY PICKUP – Drive-throughs seem to be part of the norm for now. A representative of Jostens delivers pre-ordered school-related items purchased by students and their families outside Beardstown High School Thursday. In a matter of days, education as we knew it shifted in a way no one expected. Normally, it would have been the last quarter of the academic year with spring sports, proms, concerts, graduation plans and students’ last efforts to boost their grades for the year. Those plans, however, have for the most part gone by the wayside
