Protesters take to Beardstown streets

A group of about 50 protesters took to the streets of Beardstown June 3. The march ended with the group kneeling in the street for eight minutes, 46 seconds to represent the last moments of Minnesota resident George Floyd’s life as he lay handcuffed with a police officer’s knee on his neck. Virginia OKs TIF funds for bank cleanup

The Virginia City Council Monday night approved the use of TIF money to clean up the old bank building site on the Virginia Square.  The old bank has been empty for years, has fallen into disrepair and now represents a hazard to pedestrians using the sidewalk.  (Photo by Brian DeLoche.)
