Beardstown Fall Fun Festival Committee will hold a Fish Fry Fundraiser beginning at 11 a.m. Friday, March 22 at the Beardstown VFW, 610 East 4th Street. The meal will be served until they run out. Menu includes fish, baked beans, potato salad, bread and butter. Dine-in, pick-up or delivery. To place orders, call 217-323-3271.

Atterberry earns EMS, CPS credentials

Congratulations to Zain Attebery for completing the requirements to earn his “Energy Management Specialist (EMS)” and “Certified Propane Specialist (CPS)” credentials.

To achieve each of these designations, Zain had to meet a series of requirements, attend classes, demonstrate technical and sales skills in a mock interview, and pass comprehensive exams. He was tested on his knowledge of propane, propane installations and regulations, and safe handling procedures, as well as FS petroleum products including premium power fuels, renewable fuels, lubricants, and filters.

In reading articles in various newspapers, it appears that more and more marxists and socialists are rearing their ugly heads. I pray that enough ostriches in this country will pull their heads out of the sand to try and stop the movement to destroy our democratic republic.

Coin Show set for March 24th

Central Illinois Numismatic Association’s 34th Annual Spring Coin Show will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 24 at the Northfield Center I, 3210 Northfield Drive in Springfield. 

There will be 70 dealer tables that will feature U.S. and foreign coins, ancient and modern coins, gold and silver bullion, Amercan Eagles and paper money. There will be a small admission fee and members and children under 16 will be admitted free. Early birds can be admitted for a larger fee to view the coins from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Day Camp offered at Mt. Sterling

Registration is now open for Day Camp at the Mt. Sterling Community Center YMCA.

There will be Kinder Camp (entering K & 1st); Day Camp (entering 2nd & 3rd) and Tween Camp (entering 4th, 5th, 6th).Camp will be offered 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday from June 3 to August 9th.

Pricing will be based on by the week for members (full time, 3-5 days); member siblings, member part-time, and non-members.

Virginia student earns IESA award

Virginia schools is elated to announce that 8th grader Nathan Ayres has been selected as the Division J winner of the IESA Scholar Attitude award. He is one of only 15 students in the state of Illinois to be recognized as an IESA scholar attitude award winner.
