Focus on Faith – A Present Jesus Means Everything

Bible and lily

If you read the Gospels carefully, you’ll notice that no one enjoyed Easter morning. The greatest day in human history, when the sun rose upon a tomb opened and empty, wasn’t met with a joyful “Alleluia” or shouts of praise. The women at the tomb instead struggled with a mess of emotions. Each evangelist tells the details a little differently, but all of them show that instead of finding answers at the tomb, the women found only questions.

Current estate tax policy burden on family farms

Jeff Brooks, Whiteside County Farm Bureau member, faced an unprecedented challenge when he lost his father in 2023 — the weight of the Illinois estate tax.

“This burden is putting pressure on the current operations of our family farm,” Brooks testified April 12 before members of the Illinois House Revenue and Finance Committee. “In March of 2023, still coping with my father’s passing, we learned the amount of a significant payment that was still due on our farming operation.”
