Thieves break-in two vehicles

While there seems to be rumors of several vehicles broken into, only two have been reported to Beardstown Police.

Chief Martin Coad said break-ins of a vehicle in the 200 block of West 9th Street and one in the 1400 block of Bay Street were reported to his department. Change was taken out of one and a purse was taken from the other vehicle with $200 in it. He said they are investigating.

The Boy Scouts of America today at its National Annual Meeting announced that it will be changing its name to Scouting America. This change reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to welcoming every youth in America to experience the benefits of Scouting. The name change will go into effect on February 8, 2025, the organization’s 115th birthday.

An A-C Central High School senior was among 14 winners from throughout the state to receive an Illinois High School Activities Foundation (IHSAF) scholarship. This is the second class of recipients in the IHSAF Scholarship Program

Meet CJ Monroe – New Pastor at First Christian Church Beardstown

Kirsten and Pastor CJ Monroe

Pastor CJ Monroe and wife, Kirsten, have been married for 4.5 years now and we have two children,  three years  and 16 months old. He said he has been in full-time ministry for over 15 years now. 

He has served as a Youth Pastor in Lubbock, TX, Youth & College Pastor in Washington, D.C., and the Middle School Pastor in Jacksonville, IL before transferring to his new role as lead pastor in Beardstown.

The Kirsta Anderson Benefit will be held from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 18th at the Round House Event Center in Beardstown. There is a small cover charge that includes a meal and kids’ activities.
