Tom & Joyce Carlock celebrate 50th Wedding Anniversary

Tom and Joyce Carlock of Chandlerville celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary Nov. 4. The couple met through Joyce’s oldest and only brother, Hugh Dykes. Tom and Hugh met up in the Army. While stationed in Germany together, seeing a picture of Hugh’s family, Tom asked if he could write to Joyce, and so began two years of correspondence. When Tom got out of the Army he drove to Mississippi where Joyce and her family lived and courted her. They were married at Red Creek Baptist Church near Wiggins, Mississippi by Hinton Smith, uncle of the bride.
They have three children: Hugh and wife Kris; Raquel and husband Dewey Reid; and Tommy and wife Kelly, all of Chandlerville.  They have nine grandchildren: Cole, Wes, Regan, Lexi, Micah, Gabe, Ferin, Belle, and DJ, also of Chandlerville. Joyce is a retired postmaster from Oakford and Tom is a retired contractor. An open house will be held for friends and family from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28, at Panther Creek New Beginnings Church in Chandlerville. Please no gifts.
