Gene and Judy Thomas Celebrate 60th
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Thomas of rural Perry observed their 60th wedding anniversary on May 19.
Gene Thomas and Judy Albers were married in the bride’s home at rural Bluffs on May 19, 1956. Their attendants were Karrie Hutton, sister of the bride, and Lyle Thomas, brother of the groom. They are parents of a daughter, Vonna Park.
The couple has spent most of their married life in rural Perry, where Gene continues to farm. Mr. Thomas is the son of the late Everette and Corrine Thomas of rural Versailles. Mrs. Thomas is the daughter of the late Harold and Geraldine Albers of rural Bluffs.
Their anniversary was celebrated by a family dinner. Mrs. Thomas worked for a number of years at the Bluffs Times newspaper office. The couple are long time members of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and attend the Beardstown English congregation. The couple met as teenagers at the Meredosia skating rink in 1954.
