Tena Jo Seymour, 69 of Beardstown, died Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
She was born July 16, 1954, in Rushville, the daughter of Roger and Delores (Campbell) Skiles. She married Richard Seymour on December 31, 1976 in Beardstown and he preceded her in death on October 12, 2012.
She is survived by one daughter Marcie Jo (husband Larry, Jr) Lenover of Rushville, four step-daughters, Cheryl Ann Seymour of Texas, Kimberly Sue (husband Gregg) Brown of Texas, Cynthia Lynne (husband Bo) Walsh of Indiana, and Shelly Marie (husband Steve) Griffin of Nebraska; 15 grandchildren DeLena Seymour, Shannon (wife Sunday) Seymour, Joshua (wife Katrina) Mayes, Lynne (husband Josiah) Bell, Ryan Griffin, Ashley Brown, Sandra Brown, Shanna (husband Doug) Goff, Kyle (wife Kellie) Campbell, Cameron (wife Megan) Campbell, Conner Campbell, Chloe Campbell, Madison Ruiz, Ross (wife Kaitlynn) Lenover, and Carly Lenover; 13 great grandchildren, and a niece, Ashley Shoemaker. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Scott Campbell (surviving wife Jennifer (husband Chris) Jarrett), and a nephew Aaron Pettet.
Tena attended Beardstown High School with the class of 1973. She was a cook at many restaurants in the area including The Side Door Cafe and Riverview Restaurant in Beardstown, and The Depot in Virginia. She then took time off to watch her granddaughter which led to her starting her own in-home daycare in Beardstown. Tena crafted, sewed, and baked many goods that she shared with everyone. She enjoyed working puzzles with her friends at Parkside Place, and watching Reality TV, especially Jerry Springer and Maury. She loved shopping and taught her daughter and granddaughter how to find the best deals. Tena’s sense of humor and giving heart will always be remembered by her friends and family.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown with Reverend Fred Fritz officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery in Meredosia.
