Carrie Lynn Vermillion Blasius

Carrie Lynn Vermillion Blasius, 44 of Roseville, died on April 29, 2023 at her home.

Carrie was born September 3, 1978 in Beardstown, the daughter Richard “Dick” and Rita Robison Vermillion. She married Thomas “Tom” Blasius on August 10th, 2013 and he survives in Roseville.

She is also survived by her parents, Dick and Rita Vermillion of Beardstown; a brother, Scott (wife Jennifer) Vermillion of Beardstown; a sister, Christi Vermillion (wife Celestia Bell) of Beardstown; three nephews, Drake (wife Alicia) Vermillion and their children, Prudence and Duff; Gus (wife Emily) Vermillion and their children, Theo and Dallas; and Kylor (wife Samantha) Bell and their children, Daisy and Bodie; a niece, Kembra (husband Michael) Logan and their children, Maci and Rowan; two brothers-in-law, Brian and Bob Blasius of Roseville; and her four-legged friend, Buster.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Edgar and Thelma Still Vermillion, her maternal grandparents Frank and Ethel Beghtol Robison and her mother-in-law Nancy Blasius.

Carrie graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1997. She was a caregiver and worked in home health care, later working for Cargill in Beardstown, and currently for Hirschbach Motor Lines in Monmouth as a custodian. While living in Beardstown, she had a heart for volunteering for Beardstown Special Olympics coaching the BASA basketball team. Throughout her entire life she has always loved the outdoors but especially mushroom hunting and fishing. Her favorite fishing spot was a family pond catching crappie. Carrie enjoyed the ocean and taking cruises with Tom and earned the nickname “Beach Patrol.” She was blessed with the opportunity to take her parents along for one of those cruises. Carrie was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan living in a divided home with her Chicago Cubs loving husband. Spending time with her nieces and nephews was one of her greatest joys. She had a contagious smile and lived a life of happiness no matter what obstacles came her way.

Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, May 5, 2023 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown with Pastor Daryl Vermillion officiating. Burial will be in the Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the memorial home on Friday. Carrie’s funeral services will be streaming live at noon on Friday.
