Frances Emily Hegener, 77, Jacksonville, died March 6, 2023, at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital.

She was born March 6, 1946, in Beardstown. She graduated from Beardstown High School in 1964, attended Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa, class of 1969, and was employed by the Illinois Department of Revenue in Springfield, Illinois and Dallas, Texas.

She was preceded in death by parents, Gilbert Hegener and Elizabeth Rice Hegener and cousin, John Hegener.

She is survived by sister, Carol Hegener Kinzer, of Jacksonville, cousins, Martin, Larry, and John Werries, Ruth Werries Geiger, Linda and Dennis Rice, Craig and Curt Rice, Nancy Hegener Tennis, Henry and Hughes Hegener.

Frances often visited nursing homes to play games and converse with residents. She loved travel, reading, history, classical music, card games, puzzles, Turner Classic Movies, the company of family and friends, trivia, and A & W Root Beer. Having a beautiful singing voice, she was a member of many choirs. One choir performed at the Carnegie Hall.

She was a member of P.E.O. chapters GU, EX, and CY, and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Richardson, Texas. She gave to many charities and will be remembered as a unique and caring individual. Memorials to personal charities are suggested.

There will be no formal services. Sager Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
