Helen G. “Jerry” Bresnahan

Helen G. “Jerry” Bresnahan, 96, Beardstown, died Sunday, February 12, 2023, in Springfield.

She was born on November 10, 1926, in Mt. Sterling, the daughter of Gerald and Helen Wagner Moran. She married Darrel J. Bresnahan on October 13, 1945, in Pontiac, MI. He preceded her in death on April 21, 2002.

In addition to her husband, Darrel, Helen was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Judy Mullen; granddaughter, Lisa Murray; brothers, Donald Moran, Richard Moran; and sisters, Mary Hedrick, Betty Kennedy, Karen Scheer, Brenda Hamann.

She is survived by sons, John Bresnahan, Beardstown, Jim (Nancy) Bresnahan, Normal; daughter, Jennifer (Robert) Wilder, Mapleton; brother, David (Janice) Moran, Beardstown; sisters, Doris Quinn, Beardstown, Beverly (Robert) Booth, Mt. Sterling; son-in-law, Mike Mullen, Beardstown; grandchildren, Nikki (Sam) Nowack, Jenna (Jake) Henry, Liz Beggs, Logan (Sophia) Bresnahan, Mike (Linda) Mullen, Paul (Serena) Mullen, Zachary Wilder, Matthew Wilder; 11 great-grandchildren; and eight great great-grandchildren.

She was a 1945 Beardstown High School graduate. Before retirement, she worked at West Food Store, Woolworths and TG&Y, all in Beardstown. She enjoyed being a homemaker and going shopping. She was also a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Beardstown and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Visitation will be at Sager Funeral Home, from 5:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, February 16, 2023. A funeral service will be held at the First Southern Baptist Church of Beardstown at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, February 17, 2023. Burial will immediately follow the service at Beardstown City Cemetery.
