Connie Lea Morris, 80, of Jacksonville, died peacefully at 8:10 a.m. on Friday, December 2, 2022, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

    She was born on March 6, 1942, in Jacksonville, the daughter if Earl F. and M. Eleanor Pevey Morris.

She attended a one room schoolhouse in Philadelphia, IL. In the fourth grade she went into Virginia, and graduated in 1960. She went to work in Jacksonville at the “Bound to be Bound.” She attended Hardin Brown Business College in Jacksonville. Her working career went from Jacksonville to Quincy to St Louis then back to Jacksonville in 1973. She worked for Caldwell engineering and then retired from Doyle Plumbing and Heating Co. in 2019

While in high school, Connie enjoyed following the Virginia Cardinals football and basketball teams. She also enjoyed roller skating, going to the local movie theatre, watching NASCAR and the St. Louis Cardinals. Connie loved to read; another love was her cats.

   She is survived by two sisters, Judith McCleary of Mendon,  and Janet Trone of Rushville; three nephews and one niece: Troy (Kelly) McCleary of Mendon, Tonya McCleary of Hannibal, MO, Michael Roudebush of Hull, Aaron Trone of Rushville; grandnephews and grandnieces, Patrick Carlen, Kayla (Justin) Mitchell, Kara (Frank) Holtschlag, Kody (Erica) McCleary, Emilea (Detahjz) Klauser, Devin (Natelie) Klauser, Trenton Trone; three great grandsons, Cutter Mitchell, Tate Mitchell, Khyrie Lewis; one aunt, Rita Wyatt of Alton; two cousins, Rick (Martha) Morris of Chapin, and Jim (Sharon) Morris of Concord.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers-in-law, Ronald Trone and Robert McCleary and one niece, Page Carlen.

    A graveside service will be held at Concord Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2022. Friends and family are asked to gather at the cemetery. There will be no visitation.
