Mrs. Shirley Peterson Maurer, known to her friends and family as Millie, 92, of Cozy Cove Hollow died peacefully at her home on Saturday, October 29, 2022 following an extended illness.

Mrs. Maurer was born on June 17, 1930 in Jacksonville, the daughter of the late Albert Peterson, and the late Helen Osmer Peterson, pre-deceased by daughter, Carol Jean Maier.

Shirley was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was a gifted seamstress and loved knitting and traveling. Shirley was of the Presbyterian faith.

  Surviving are three daughters and one son in law, Diana and Skip Belton, of Blairsville, Linda Meridith of Blairsville and Nancy Maurer of Orlando, FL; thirteen grandchildren, Jennifer and Greg Banks, John and Suzie Phillips, Diana Lin Wallace, Jason and Jennifer Maier, Julie Gletty, Jesse Maier, Erika and Brandon Hailes, Nicole Wilbur, Audra and Randy Meeker, Tucker Belton, Gunner and Shelley Belton; eighteen great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She also leaves many other relatives and friends.

     A family memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers if you wish, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Mrs. Maurer’s memory.
