Kathleen J. Cooper, 75, Beardstown, died Friday, September 16, 2022 at Heritage Health in Beardstown.

Kathleen (best known as Cookie) was born to Vera Schrodt Hess and Melvin George Hess in Beardstown on September 17,1946 at Schmidt Memorial Hospital. She was baptized and confirmed at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown and was a lifelong member.

She leaves behind two sons, Chris Cooper and Randy Williams (Sabrina) and her sister, Melanie Schroll (John) and her grandchildren: Thomas, Patience, Krislyn Cooper and Loution, Ivee, Alee and Xadn Williams.

Preceeding her in death are her beloved mom and Papa Kenneth Dahman, the best step-dad ever.

She attended Beardstown Schools from kindergarten to high school graduating with the very fun class of 1964. Growing up she had a love for the river and enjoyed so much time swimming and water skiing with her high school besties, Susie Conner and Sue Fischer. After graduation, she became a licensed LPN and started her career in the hospital where she was born and later worked in Springfield for nursing homes caring for the elderly.  She loved people, especially babies, and was often complimented for the kind care she gave her patients.

Cremation rites have been accorded and per her wishes there will be no services. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.
