Larry F. Anderson, 73, Havana, died at 11:23 pm at his home with family on Tuesday, May 3, 2022. He was born in Tower Hill on January 29, 1949, the son of David E. and Bessie L. (Ethridge) Anderson. Larry married LaTrisha Gilson on August 29, 1987 at the Bader Christian Church in Bader. She survives.
Also surviving are his three children, Timothy Anderson of Shumway, Katina Devore of Cowden, and Schuyler (and Gerald) Sears of Vermont, eight grandchildren; David Anderson, Brianna Anderson, Codey Devore, Corey Devore, Kourtney Wernsing, Colton Wernsing, Dakota Poppenhager, and LeAnne Sears, two great-grandchildren; Aria and Athena Anderson, one sister, Ruth Simpson of Astoria, one sister-in-law Julie Anderson of Springfield, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; David “Butch” (and his wife Marge) Anderson, Jr., Raymond Anderson and Donald Anderson and his brother-in-law Rodney Simpson.
He proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War with a rank of PFC.
Larry had his own business for many years, working as a diesel mechanic. He was a man of many talents and always said, “I’m a jack of all trades, master of none.” He had many hobbies including woodworking, cars, tractors, motorcycles, fishing and riding horses.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside services were held on Monday, May 9 in the Beardstown City Cemetery. Pastor Matt Haberman officiated. Military rites were conducted by the Astoria American Legion Post #25.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Compassus Hospice, 2000 W. Pioneer Parkway, Suite 24, Peoria, Illinois 61615. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria has been entrusted with arrangements.
