Margaret K. “Sis” Weimer Rosenberg

Margaret K. “Sis” Weimer Rosenberg, 96,  Springfield, formerly of Beardstown died on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

She was born on January 18, 1926, the daughter of Harold and Leona Diebold Weimer of Beardstown.

She is survived by  two daughters, Patricia Franz (husband, Jim) of Bloomington, and Mardeane “Dede” Short (husband, Tom) of Springfield;  two grandsons, Aaron Franz and Chase Short; two step-grandsons, Kevin and Tom Franz; two great-granddaughters, Danielle Franz and Lula Short; one great-grandson, Ford Short; two step-great granddaughters, Chelsea Lessen and Jazlyn Franz; three step-great grandsons, Zach, Jaylen, and Carson Franz; three-step great-great grandsons, Kyler, Isaiah, and Hayden Lessen; and numerous nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, John, Harold “Junie” and Rich Weimer; and one sister, Charlene Hecker.

Ms. Rosenberg was a graduate of Beardstown High School.  She retired as a Dictaphone Operator from the Franklin Life Insurance Company and before then she was employed with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation for a number of years.  She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Springfield and also a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown, AFSCME Retiree Chapter 31 and ISEA.

In her early years, Margaret was an avid tennis player.  Throughout her life, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, needlework, reading, playing bingo and cards, watching ice skating, tennis and the Fighting Illini, and spending time with family.

The family would like to thank staff of Regency Care and Springfield Memorial Hospital for their compassionate and excellent care.

A funeral service was held on Friday, April 15, 2022 at 12 p.m. at the Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. Burial followed at Beardstown City Cemetery.
