With new food packaging labels on grocery shelves, what do you need to know?

According to the US Department of Agriculture, the National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Standard “defines bioengineered foods as those that contain detectable genetic material that has been modified through certain lab techniques and cannot be created through conventional breeding or found in nature.” Shoppers might be surprised to find bioengineered labels on common products they’ve been eating for years.
