Dianna M. Carey, age 76, of rural Beardstown, passed away Monday, February 21, 2022 at her home.

She was born October 25, 1945 in Belpre, KS, the daughter of Leland Harold and Nora Gertrude Legg Hawk. She married James Reed Carey on September 5, 1963 in Junction City, KS and he preceded her in death on December 24, 2009.

She is survived by two sons, Boyd (Grace) Carey of St. Louis, MO and Jason (companion, Roberta Driver) Carey of Beardstown; four grandchildren, Shelby, Luke, Calvin and Sydney Carey; two sisters, Juanita Faircloth of Georgia and Karen Blanken of Kansas; and two brothers, Thomas Hawk of California and David Hawk of Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Ms. Carey was employed for several years at Sweatman Auction Service in Virginia and Bound To Stay Bound Book Bindery in Jacksonville, while working alongside her husband on the family farm until retirement. Dianna enjoyed being outdoors gardening, fishing and hunting for ginseng.

Dianna’s family will host a Celebration of Life gathering at the Elks Lodge in Beardstown on Saturday, March 12, 2022 in the afternoon (time to be announced later).
