Lisa Gail Hitchings, 61, Ashland, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

She was born Sept. 23, 1960, in Jacksonville, the daughter of John T. and Wanda L. Splain Irlam. She married Donald J. Hitchings Jr. on Dec. 24, 1997, in Jacksonville and he survives.

She is also survived by her mother, Wanda Irlam of Jacksonville; two sons, Cody Gregory of Ashland and Matthew (Ashlynne) Gregory of Pawnee; five grandchildren, Noah, Kayden, Mabel, Elara and Henry; one brother, John W. (Shirley) Irlam of Jackson, TN; one sister, Brenda (Chris) Cutler of Bella Vista, AR; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dogs, Trixie, Whinny, and Daisy May. She was preceded in death by her father.

Mrs. Hitchings was a member of Virginia Church of Christ. She was a stay-at-home parent to her dogs. She was a fluid, paint pouring artist and an avid reader. Lisa enjoyed camping with her husband and pets, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandkids.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville. The family will meet friends 1-3 p.m. prior to the service.
