Mary Joanne Maloney (Nany) died Jan. 13, 2022. She was born, November 21, 1932, in Murrayville.
Joanne graduated High School from Sacred Heart Academy in Springfield, and went on to complete nurses training and to become a registered nurse. As a registered nurse, she served in a variety of capacities, ultimately retiring in 1997 from the Kansas City Blood Bank as the head of Infection Control.
Her greatest pleasure was time with her family. She was a devoted and doting sister and aunt.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Hazel Maloney; her sister, Mary Corinne Snow and her niece, Mary Diane Snow.
She is survived by her brother, Joseph William Maloney and his wife Lois Ann Maloney of Avon; her nephews, Philip Snow Jr., Reginal Snow, Eric Maloney, Vincent Maloney, Gregory Maloney and her nieces, Colette Saucedo, Therese VanVoorn, Mary Cecile Maloney and by several great nieces and nephews which in her later years were the greatest source of her enjoyment and delight.
Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022, at Daws Funeral Home, 508 West Vandalia Road, Jacksonville, Illinois. Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 21, 2022, at Our Savior Catholic Church, 453 East State St., Jacksonville, with interment at the Saint Bartholomew Catholic Church Cemetery in Murrayville.
