Mona “Sue” Rohn, 88, of Beardstown, died Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at White Hall Nursing and Rehab Center.
She was born July 13, 1932 in Virginia, the daughter of A.B. and Nellie Anderson Chapman. She married Homer Archie Rohn on November 18, 1950 in Virginia and he preceded her in death on April 3, 2005.
She is survived by four sons, Tom (Patty) Rohn, Dan (Fawn) Rohn and Jerry (Donna) Rohn, all of Beardstown, and Sam (Brandi) Rohn of Jacksonville; twelve grandchildren, Jaime (Kevin) Manche, Brock (Angie) Rohn, Dusty (Mike) Mueller, Peggy (Chris) Kinsey, Sadie (Trevor) Courson, John (Rachel) Rohn, Adam Rohn, Jared (Karly) Rohn, Brooke (Joey) Luna, Dane McGuire, Jacob Rohn and Jack Rohn; 13 great-grandchildren, Maggie Sue, Grace, Addison, Mallory, Jase, Brady, Violet, Lou Anne, Kaylin, Kendal, Lucy, Sophie and Elli; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Peggy Chapman; seven half-brothers, Ray, John, Dean, Wilbur, Don, Orville and Neil Chapman; and two half-sisters, Mardelle Nicholson and Erlene Taliente.
Mrs. Rohn was a 1949 graduate of Virginia High School and a full-time farm wife, loving mother to four very active, hungry boys, a loving and playful grandmother, a friend to all she met, and a selfless volunteer. Her love for serving her family and others resulted in a very joyful heart. Her happy heart was obvious to those who knew her well as she whistled and hummed as she went about her day. She started each day with a devotional Bible reading which she let guide her in her life. She was a long time faithful and active member of the First United Methodist Church. The list of her volunteer activities include: Hospital Pink Lady, Edgewood Homemakers, United Methodist Women, Schuyler/Cass Area Hospice, Emblem Club Past President, Supreme Emblem Club Officer, Red Hat Ladies, Past President of the Health Improvement Assn., Methodist Church Circle 6, Ombudsman, Meals on Wheels, Cass County Food Pantry, and drove countless people to doctor and cancer treatment appointments.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 14, 2021 at Beardstown First United Methodist Church with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. There will be an informal visitation with open casket (family will not be present) one hour prior to services at the church. Family will meet friends from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at The Round House Center, 905 Bay St., Beardstown.
