The Meredosia-Chambersburg-Triopia-Virginia Junior High School softball team rebounded from a 3-0 loss to Brown County to start their week with two big wins. The Lady Indians crushed Jacksonville Our Saviors 18-0 and Pikeland 12 to 2 to move to 10-5-1 on the season.

The Beardstown High School volleyball team lost their first two games to open the season last week. The Lady Tigers fell in straight sets on the road against Western 13-25, 17-25 last Wednesday.
The Beardstown High School Soccer Team is off to a good start to the season, fashioning a 2-0-2 record over the first week of the season. The Tigers tied class 3A Galesburg and Quincy High School 2 to 2, while beating Abingdon-Avon 6-0 and Canton, Missouri 8-1.
The PORTA-AC Central Bluejay boys’ golf team was in action at their home digs, Shambolee Golf Course, for a quadrangular meet with the North Mac Panthers, West Central Cougars, and the Delavan Panthers last Tuesday.
Beardstown was the only local school to pick up a win in week one of the high school football season, rolling past North Greene on the road 41 to 6 last Friday night.

At the Beardstown City Council meeting Tuesday nighy, Mayor Tim Harris announced the retirement of Randy Robeson from the Beardstown Fire/Ambulance Service. Robeson has been with the department for over thirty years.
