April 12
Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Walmart, April 12 at 10 a.m. for children ages up to 8 years old.

Heritage Health, 8306 St. Luke Dr., Beardstown, will be having their annual community Easter egg hunt on April 12. There will be lots of candy and many prizes for each age group (ages 1-3, 4-7, and 8-12).

A benefit for Quentin Swan will be held at 11 a.m., at the Elks Club in Beardstown. The benefit will include raffles, auctions, bake sale, live bands, t-shirts and food.

April 16
Prairie Skies Public Library, Ashland location, is having a program showing the use of and how to download “e-books” and “android” devices (no Apple products). Plan to attend on April 16, 9-10 a.m.
April 21-24
Midwest Dental offices in Jacksonville and Rushville will be providing free visual head and neck oral cancer exams during the week of April 21-24 in recognition of April’s Oral Cancer Awareness month.

May 10
Beardstown Main Street will be hosting its first Beardstown Arts in the Park event  from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the city square.

May 19-20
An AARP driver training class will be held at the Virginia United Methodist Church. Sessions will be from 12:30-4:30 p.m. each day.

May 24
The Beardstown Opera House, 123 State St., will hold it's annual art show on Saturday, May 24 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Virginia’s Annual Community Spaghetti Supper hosted by the Virginia Masonic Lodge.
The popular fundraising event again will be held at St. Luke’s Catholic Hall, 170 N. Main Street in Virginia from 4 to 7 p.m. on April 5.

Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice, serving Cass, Schuyler, Morgan, Brown and Scott counties, is conducting a volunteer training from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, April 5 and 12, at the Cass County Health Clinic, 331 South Main Street in Virginia.

The Prairie Skies Public Library District would like to invite all who are interested in learning  basic sewing taught by Patty Stremsterfer to come to the first meeting of the “Golden Needles” at 7 p.m. This will be an informational and get-to-know meeting only.

St. Luke parish will hold its annual fish fry from 4-7 p.m., at St. Luke Hall in Virginia.  The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children.

The Virginia Cub Scout Pack 126 will be collecting nonperishable food donations in Virginia that will go to the Cass County Food Pantry.

Volunteer Virginia's Fourth Annual Ladies Night Out Supper & Card/Game Party is slated for Thursday, March 13th from 6:30-9:00 p.m. at St. Luke's Catholic Hall.

March 14
The Down East Boys, a Southern gospel quartet from Reidsville, North Carolina, will perform at the Virginia United Methodist Church, 401 East Broadway, Virginia, on Friday, March 14 at 7 p.m. This concert is free and open to the public.

March 14 and 15
“Quilts In Action” show, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Orr Building, Illinois State Fairgrounds. Admission: $7. View hundreds of quilts and quilted items (including 20 Hoffman challenge quilts), demonstrations, talks with an appraiser, shop at quilt shops, related craft vendors and much more. Feb. 28
Virginia High School Student Council will be sponsoring a Trivia Family Fun Night beginning with dinner at 6 p.m. and trivia starting at 6:30 p.m.  

To help ensure an adequate blood supply for our region, the Central Illinois Community Blood Center is offering several opportunities to donate blood in Cass County. In Ashland at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church Hall, 800 West Main Street; from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. At the Virginia Masonic Lodge, 900 South Main Street; from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Lincoln Land Community College has rescheduled its Campus Visit Day for prospective students and families to Monday, March 3. Participants may choose to attend the morning session from 9-11:30 a.m. or evening session from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

KHQA will host Storm Spotters Training in conjunction with the National Weather Service  in the Mary Ellen Orr Auditorium on the campus of John Wood Community College, 1301 South 48th Street in Quincy, IL. The event will begin at 6 p.m. with a brief presentation by KHQA Chief Meteorologist Mike Cole and members of the 7 Storm Team, Tegan Orpet and Jeremy Ledford.
