Velma Lou Smedly, 75, of Brookfield, Mo., and formerly of Beardstown, died Sunday, Feb. 23, at University Hospital in Columbia, Mo. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. Family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Brookfield Senior Center or Rushville Help Center. Arthur Fred “Art” Gielau, 86 of Beardstown, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014 at Heritage Health in Beardstown. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. Burial will be in Messerer Cemetery near Frederick. The family will meet with friends from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials have been suggested to Beardstown Little League, Cass/ Schuyler Area Hospice, or Heritage Health Activity Fund.

Donnie M. Jones, 64, of Rushville, passed away at 1:00 AM, Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at his home.

David M. Canada, 71, formerly of Beardstown died Feb. 12. He is survived by four children: Adrian Neuendorf (wife, Julie) of Joplin Mo., Latisha Maltby (Christopher Bigley) of Versailles, Heather Canada of Beardstown, and Clayton Canada of Ripley, He has 18 grandchildren with two on the way; two sisters, Helen Clements (Donnie) of Browning, Dana Stilwell of Lee’s Summit, Mo., and several nieces and nephews.

Mary M. Lovekamp passed away Friday, Feb. 14, at Memorial Medical Center. Visitation was from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 18 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with services following at 11 a.m., at the church. Pastor Donald Eggold officiated. Interment was at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Arenzville.
