ICC decision moves FutureGen closer to reality PDF Print E-mail

An order issued last Thursday by the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) will allow the FutureGen Industrial Alliance to build an operate a carbon dioxide (CO2) pipeline from the generating plant in Meredosia to a permanent storage site southwest of Ashland in Morgan County.

Congratulations to Sarah D. Culbertson Memorial and their staff for being chosen February Co-Business of the Month.    Sarah D. Culbertson Memorial Hospital is a nonprofit organization that includes the hospital and three rural health clinics located in Astoria, Beardstown, and Rushville. Active year for AC-Central FFA PDF Print E-mail

The A-C Central FFA has been very active this year. We have attended many events and contests. Jackson Allen placed 1st overall in Section 14 Food Judging CDE. Quinlan Mahoney took first in Creed Speaking and will be participating in the District 3 contest in April.

New opportunities for Beardstown FFA PDF Print E-mail

The Beardstown FFA Chapter has experienced an active year with many changes and exciting new opportunities.
BHS’s FFA president, secretary, and another member attended the three-day State FFA convention in Springfield over the summer. Conference speakers delivered motivational speeches on leadership and the FFA experience.
The chapter welcomed Sam Frazier as the new FFA advisor and Ag teacher this fall. Mr. Frazier teaches dual-credit agriculture classes at BHS on behalf of Lincoln Land Community College.

 
Cass County SWCD holds 67th annual meeting PDF Print E-mail

The 67th annual meeting of the Cass County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) was held February 11 at St. Luke’s Hall in Virginia.
The meeting began with a catered meal from Kelly Cagle of The Depot Restaurant. During the business meeting James Dambacher, Amy Hardwick and John Winkelman were elected for a two-year term on the board of directors.
