Beardstown Big League All-Stars capture the state championship PDF Print E-mail

The Beardstown Big League All-Stars traveled to South Holland Park this past weekend and proved their mettle by grabbing two wins over South Cicero 19-0, and a nail-bitter 6-5 win over South Horner Park.
By winning both games, the young Lady Tigers have moved into the championship contest of the State Finals.
They will play the winners of the South Holland-South Horner Park game on Tuesday.
The team is comprised of: Shelby Koehler, Haleigh Hammel, and Allison Dewalt of West Hancock; Kathy Wilson, Macomb; Elyce Trout, Illini West; Rachael Motley, Barry; Megan Winston, Brown County; Alexis Ensminger, Stronghurst (out with knee injury); Aileana Rawlins, Madison Cowell, and Maddie Fox, of Beardstown.

Named to the first team All-Area were senior Jon Kramer and sopohomore Rick Dour.

Beardstown 11-12 year old boys All-Stars lead in pool play PDF Print E-mail

Beardstown is hosting District 17 Pool Play with the winners advancing on to the District Finals to be hosted by Brown County. The Pool Play is being played at the Little League Diamond at Schmodt Park.
The six teams entered are: Brown County (0-3), Adams County (2-1), Rushville (2-1), Virginia (2-1), and the host Beardstown.
The hosts played a Pool Play game against Virginia Monday night with the hometowners posting an 10-0 win and earned a berth in the District 17 tourney to be played in Mt. Sterling beginning Monday.

Jon Kramer named to IHSBCA All-Star Team PDF Print E-mail

Head baseball coach of the Tigers Robin Lewis, led the O&B to the sectional finals, and closed out the year with a fine  25-10 mark received notice recently that he had one player selected to IHSCBA all-state first team, and had placed three players on first team all conferrence in the Prairieland Conference and one on the second team.
Jon Kramer, OF/P for the BHS Tigers baseball team was honored by the IHSBCA by being named to the first team Class 2A All-State squad.

Lady Tigers have good week; improve to 8-4 PDF Print E-mail

BHS vs. Farmington
The BHS Lady Tigers made the long trip to Farmington pulling off a 7-1 win over the Lady Farmers a week ago Tuesday.
Seaman carried the day for the locals as she not only spun a nifty two-hitter, but led the Lady Tigers’ 12-hit attack as she drove in three runs. Seaman walked two and struck out three in the 7-1 win.
Beardstown jumped on Farmington early for four runs in the top of the first and never looked back.
Maddie Fox also had a good day banging out a pair of doubles on a two-for-three effort including two RBI’s. Emma White went two-for-three with a ribbie, while Maddie Cowell was two-for-three and scored two runs.

BHS gets invitation to join the WIVC Conference PDF Print E-mail

The Western Illinois Valley Conference (WIVC) extended an invitation to Beardstown High School to join the “Valley” in ‘football only’ beginning in the 2015 season. The ball was put in the Tigers’ court and they accepted waiting upon a binding decision from the Beardstown School Board to accept the invitation.
The Star-Gazette contacted head football coach Tyler Buhlig concerning the movement from the Prairieland to the WIVC.

Two area powerhouses met last Wednesday and the Pleasant Plains Cardinals prevailed over the BHS Tigers in a close 5-4 decision  here at Ed Lewis Feld last Wednesday.
Chad Weller got the win in relief of starter M. Koehler who gave up all four runs, with Weller hurling four scoreless innings. Justice Wrobleski took the loss, allowing Plains five runs, all earned, on six hits, walking two and striking out one. Jacob Janssen hurled a scoreless inning and Rick Dour went two innings and did not allow a run or a hit, while striking out two.

BHS Lady Soccer Team loses to Lutheran High by a 5-0 final PDF Print E-mail

The BHS Lady Tigers soccer team traveled to Springfield last Saturday to play Lutheran High.
The hometowners lost for the third time this season,  going down by a 5-0 shutout loss to the Lady Crusaders.

Lady Tigers capture five of last six to improve to 6-3 overall PDF Print E-mail

The BHS Lady Tigers, winners of five of their last six outings, went 4-1 this past week. They defeated Lewistown, Macomb, Auburn, and Springfield High before losing to QND in the championship of the BHS Invite.

BHS vs. Lewistown
The BHS Lady Tigers used a huge seven-run third inning to post an 11-7 road win over the Lady Indians from Lewistown.
The hometowners were down 3-0 until the big seven-run third inning. They added two more in the fourth, and picked up single tallies in the fifth and sixth to post the 11-7 final.
Sarah Seaman carried the big “stick” for the locals as she went two-for-four, including a triple and four RBI’s. Maddie Fox also had a big day as she went three-for-four with two ribbies, while Morgan Davidsmeier and Alyssa Lewis had two hits each in the winning effort.

BHS Tigers on a win streak as they roll to five straight wins PDF Print E-mail

The Beardstown Tigers boys baseball team has a five-game win streak going, as their bats came alive this past week. The O&B ran their win streak to five straight after a slow 1-4 start by winning four contests this past week to bring their season mark to 6-4.
This past week they knocked off Pittsfield 6-3, Athens 10-2, and tripped up B/P-City in a twin-bill  by scores of 13-2, 20-1.

BHS vs. Pittsfield
The O&B got five solid innings from Jacob Janssen who went five-innings allowing two runs, one earned, gave up four hits, walked three and struck out two. D’ante McWilliams finished up going the final two innings, walking four, striking out three, allowing one hit and one run.
Pittsfield scored one run in the bottom of the first, added one run in the fourth to lead 2-0. The hometowners then came alive as they put a six-spot on the board in the top of the sixth. Rick Dour delivered a two-run single, with Janssen, Markus Bauser and Chad McCombs also delivering RBI’s in the six-run uprising.
BHS stole four bases in the contest, three by Dour and one by Bauser. The Saukees helped the Tiger cause by committing five errors.
