The owner of Allen’s Market, Harold Allen, passed away suddenly on Monday. Despite a somber mood at the store, it is expected to remain open for the time being.
“We’re still here. We’re still going,” said manager Daniel Meyer.
But Meyer said employees were still coming to terms with events.
“Everyone’s pretty shaken up,” said Meyer, “Everybody’s in shock.”
Meyer also spoke on what Allen meant to the store.
“He’s everything to the store, he’s the heart and soul,” said Meyer. “He’s the smiling face around the counter. We are glad to have a boss like him.”
Meyer said he has spoken with Allen’s children about the future of Allen’s Market. While he did not know about long-term plans, the store would not shut down in the near-term.
