Blood donations needed PDF Print E-mail

To help ensure an adequate blood supply for the region blood drives will be held in the area. The first at Bluffs High School, located at 100 West Rockford in Bluffs is hosting a blood drive on Monday, May 5, from 1 to 5 p.m.   The next at the Beardstown Lincoln Land Community College, 109 White Pine Lane, on Thursday, May 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The third at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church Hall, 800 West Main Street in Ashland, on Friday, May 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
For your convenience, please call the blood center (toll free) to sign up at 1-866-GIVE-BLD or schedule an appointment online at www.bloodcenterimpact.org using sponsor code 60008. Walk-ins are also welcome and appreciated.

 
A-C band gets superior rating PDF Print E-mail

Congratulations goes out to the members of the A-C Central Concert band for receiving a Division I – Superior rating at IHSA contest on Friday evening 4/11.  Members of the band traveled to Petersburg to perform for a panel of judges, The A-C Central Band received a superior rating from all 3 judges. Selections performed were Rough Riders by Karl L King, Black is the Color…. arr. by Robert W. Smith and Trail of Tears by James Barnes. The band is under the direction of Kim Webster.

 
Chamber to offer tax assistance PDF Print E-mail

The Beardstown Chamber of Commerce is offering a free tax assistance program for residents of Beardstown who meet the following criteria: total income must not exceed $25,000 unless 60 years or older (Social Security does not apply); individuals must occupy a Beardstown address; individuals cannot have rental property or self-employment activities.
Appointments are available on Friday, February 7, Friday, February 21, and Friday, March 7 from 8:30 a.m. to noon each day. To schedule an appointment, call the Beardstown Chamber of Commerce at 323-3271.

 
National 4-H week off to a great start PDF Print E-mail

River Valley 4-H club is off to a busy start of the 4-H year. The club held a kickoff meeting in September, electing officers for the present 4-H year. Our new officers are: president- Emma Bennett, vice president- Britta Wubker, treasurer- Landon Wubker, secretary- Lydia Davidsmeier, and reporter- Beth Warden.

 
Funds for Wounded Warriors PDF Print E-mail

Don McGovern, World War II veteran and Paul Rice, Exalted Ruler of the Beardstown Elks Lodge 1007, present a check for $500 to Jim Parks of the Beardstown VFW and John Ryman of the American Legion, for the Wounded Warrior AUSA.
