Virginia Happenings

Winter is having a hard time letting go and each time snow is called for in the forecast one thinks this has to be the last time!  Surely there will be more than two seasons in Illinois.
It is almost April and that is the last month for the Feinstein Challenge for the Cass County Food Pantry. The Cub Scouts were out picking up food last week and that along with all cash and food donations made in March and April will count toward the total submitted for the challenge. Make your donations before the end of April and be a part of the challenge to raise hunger awareness nationwide.
On Friday night, March 28, Virginia School's PTO is sponsoring a Spring Fling dance for students pre-k through 5th grade from 7-8:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. On Saturday, March 29, the VHS Band concert will be in the gym at 4 p.m.
The Shoeman project is still collecting gently used and new shoes for their clean water projects. Shoes may be dropped off at City Hall.
Thr Virginia City Wide Garage Sale will be on May 3 so start gathering items as that weekend will be here before we know it. Hopefully it won't be snowing!
The Franklin-Waverly Military Support Group is still collecting items for the troops overseas. Donations of small personal items or non perishable food items can be dropped off at Walker Nursing Home or Virginia City Hall. Packages are sent each month and cash donations are accepted to help defray the cost of postage.
