BHS Tigers lose to Brimfield in conference clash PDF Print E-mail

The BHS Tigers lost a conference clash with  Brimfield last Friday by a 64-49 final. The loss drops the Tigers to 5-4 for the season.
The Black and Orange put three players in double figures with Jon Kramer the top gun with 16, Jacob Janssen tossed in 12, and Gus Vermilion also put 12 points in the scoring column.
The Indians were led by Swietek, who led all scorers with 24 points, followed closely by Cvenas with 20, including five 3-bangers  
The first period was hotly contested with the hosts holding a six-point edge 17-11 after eight minutes. Swietek scored eight of his 24 and Dwyer added six. Leading the Tigers’ scoring was Vermillion on three-of-four from the line, and a trey by Rick Dour.
The host Indians used a 19-11 difference in the second stanza fueled by three triples by Swietek and three field goals from Cvenas. Janssen’s seven points and Vermillion’s three led the O&B scoring, after the 19-11 blitz, the hometowners trailed at intermission 36-25.
The Indians continued to pad their margin with a 14-10 edge following the intermission sending the hosts into the final period in the cat-bird seat with a  comfortable margin of 50-35 advantage.
Cvenas continued to burn the Tigers from long range as he netted two more from beyond the arc, and Swietek, the Indians’ top gun, added a 2-banger for good measure. Vermillion’s six points paced the O&B effort in the third stanza.
The final period was a stand-off with both teams putting 14 points on the scoreboard. Hanley’s three buckets led Brimfield, while Jon Kramer came to life for the Tigers with a nine point barrage, but the hometowners  came up on the short end falling  to Brimfield by a 64-49 final.

BHS vs. Piasa SW
In their opening  game of the Carrollton Holiday Tournament, the O&B went down in a hard fought loss with Piasa SW, 56-51.
Rick Dour led the locals scoring with 16 points, with junior Gus Vermillion also in double figures with 12. Piasa’s Dage topped all scorers with 18 points.
