Routt rallied back when they ran off seven unanswered points to close within three at 11-8, but Triopia’s McGinnis ended all hopes for the host Lady Rockets as she put the game out of reach when McGinnis and her teammates ran off seven straight service points to take a 19-8 lead and won going away by the 25-15 final.

Regional Final
The Lady Blue advanced to the finals by defeating Routt and took on New Berlin in the title match, proving that the third time was indeed the charm as they finally captured a regional trophy after being denied the past two years in the regional championship matches. This was the first regional title for the Lady Blue since 1993.
Triopia came out very determined that they were going to be the winners, and they did so in a solid manner by winning in straight sets 25-16, 25-8. “These girls gave me my first regional championship, and they deserved it by working hard, said head coach Kelly Johnson.

Game One
New Berlin got off to a decent start leading 6-4 before Triopia got their legs under them when Cydney Musch got a big kill to tie it 7-7. Kylie McGinnis put the Lady Trojans on top to stay when she served up four service points to make it 14-9.
Kendi Sayre got one of her eight kills on the night, and then served up five service points to run the score to 19-11. With Sayre, McGinnis and Musch dominating at the net they ran the score to 24-16, and Sydney Meyer got the game-winning service ace to seal the deal.

Game Two
New Berlin again stayed within shouting distance early on at 6-4 in the second set before Megan Lynn put together a five-point service run to give the Lady Blue some breathing room at 12-5. McGinnis extended the lead to 17-6 with a five point run. Sayre and Musch both contributed hard kills and Musch got a couple of tips at the net in the run.
Sydney Meyer nearly finished off the Lady Pretzels by running the score to 23-6 on four service points, including an ace. Emily Burns put the finishing touches on the night when she had a hard spike to end the contest giving the Blue and White the 25-8 final verdict.
“I’m lost for words to explain how happy I am,” said a gleeful Kendi Sayre. “We came together as a team and we love one another,” concluded Sayre. “I’m so happy for our team, for our community, and finally getting the trophy after trying so hard the past two years,” said Cydney Musch. “We came together as a team and got the job done.”
First year head coach Kelly Johnson simply stated, “I am so proud of each and every one of them. They deserved this.”
Kelly went on to say, “When we got Musch back in mid-season, we were able to change our rotation, and with her, McGinnis and Sayre at the net we became pretty forceful. The entire team came together in the late stages of the season and played as a unit and you see the results here tonight,” exclaimed Johnson.
Triopia traveled to New Berlin Tuesday night where they will take on Calhoun, the WIVC conference champs, giving the Lady Trojans a rematch against the Lady Warriors.
