Christmas in Virginia approaches PDF Print E-mail

It was recently posted on Facebook that there were only eight Fridays until Christmas, egads!
With that in mind, there are only five Fridays until Christmas in Virginia so pull out those family recipes to enter your favorite pie in the Pie Auction. If you did not attend this event last year, it was a fun time with the pie bidding frenzy as well as the trading of the pie slices among the folks in the café. It was a winning event all around! The judges will have their forks poised and their appetites ready for your pie when this year's entries are submitted.
Bring your pies to Dr. Ugs Drugstore Café on Friday, December 6, by 4:30 p.m. with the auction beginning immediately after the lighted Christmas Parade. There is a cream pie category and fruit pie category for adults and a 16 and under division. Please only one entry per category per contestant. All proceeds benefit Christmas in Virginia.
Halloween Trick or Treating for Virginia has been set for Thursday, October 31 from 4-9 p.m. Tom Osmer wishes everyone a safe Halloween.
This Saturday is Volunteer Virginia's “Putting for Progress.” This is a progressive putt-putt golf tournament with one hole played at each of the participating locations: The Depot Restaurant, Virginia Volunteer Fire Department, Dr. Ugs Drugstore Café, Good Times, T.O.'s Pizza, The Eastside and VHS National Honor Society (located in Square One's Rexroat Building). Registration is at any of the locations beginning at 12 noon. Play begins at 1 p.m. The traveling trophy will be awarded to the location where the winning team registered. Entry fee is $80 due at sign up per 4 person team and includes four T-shirts available for pickup after the event. For more information contact Kim at 217-415-4678 or Keri at 217-473-1725.
Volunteer Virginia's next meeting is scheduled for November 4 at 6 p.m. at Virginia City Hall. Everyone is welcome to attend.
